The 2004 Connoisseur Collection embodies Fenton's commitment to the production of rare and unusual glass treatments and exquisite hand painted decorating. Each year a small selection of limited editions are produced to celebrate the talent and skill of the artisans of Fenton. Hallmarks of the Connoisseur Collection include:

Rare, unusual or difficult to produce glass treatments resulting in colors such as Burmese, Lotus Mist Burmese and Blue Burmese, all made with pure gold in the formula, and Topaz Opalescent, often called “Vaseline” glass, made with depleted uranium in the formula, which cause the piece to glow under a black light.

Complex optics such as the Diamond optic, and treatments like “feathering” where the craftsmen work threads of glass onto the surface and carefully pull them to create a feathered appearance.

A range of glass colors and treatments rarely if ever produced today, made only by the artisans of Fenton, who continue the tradition of historic and complex glass artistry.

Hand painted decorations both elaborate and exquisite in the painstaking attention to detail, extensive color palette and use of gold, gem accents and overall coverage of the piece.
